• miyavi made his music debut in the visual kei group "due'le quartz" at the age of 17 under the name "miyabi", making him the youngest member
• when he was in middle school, he played soccer and had dreams of being a professional soccer player. however, he broke his leg and was unable to play during this time. he began playing guitar and covered ray charles songs
• his father is of korean decent, miyavi said he struggled with excepting his father for most of his life, but has come to embrace his father's and his own acestery
• nearly all of his early songs, pre-2012, were all written by himself
• miyavi married his wife, melody, in 2009
• he has two daughters: lovelie miyavi (born july 29, 2009) and jewelie aoi (october 21, 2010)
